Concussion Policy Statement

SLP Little League takes player safety and well-being very seriously.  One area we are striving to improve in is the awareness, prevention, and treatment of concussions.  SLP Little League has prepared a separate Concussion Policy document that will be available to all league staff, player, parent, coach, manager, and volunteer.  In this document it outlines what the League requires of the coaching staff and player in case of a concussion.  It should be known that in the event a player is suspected of suffering a concussion that the player will be removed from play and will not be allowed to return to play until a medical professional provides written clearance to return to play.  We ask for everyone’s cooperation in regards to this policy.

Heads up concussion training will be required for all coaches, managers, and umpires prior to the start of the 2021 season to ensure recognition of signs and symptoms of a concussion, and proper treatment protocols after a concussion is identified.   This is in accordance to the MN State Law. This law can be found at section 121A.37 and 121A.38 of the Minnesota Code
